About the Chuch

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church confesses the Triune God as the one, true, God.  He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as taught from cover to cover in the Bible, and expounded in the Creeds of the Church (Apostles,' Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds).

God has given His Holy Word (the Bible) that man may believe that Jesus is the Christ, and that believing, man may have life in Jesus' Name (John 20:31).

From this, we believe the central teaching of the Bible: that man cannot be justified before God by his own strength, merits, or works, but is freely justified for Christ's sake, through faith, when he believes that he is received into favor, and that his sins are forgiven for Christ's sake, who, by His death, has made satisfaction for our sins. This faith God imputes for righteousness in His sight. Rom. 3 and 4.  That we may obtain this faith, the Ministry of Teaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments (Holy Baptism, Holy Communion) was instituted. For through the Word and Sacraments, as through instruments, the Holy Spirit is given, who works faith; where and when it pleases God, in them that hear the Gospel, to wit, that God, not for our own merits, but for Christ's sake, justifies those who believe that they are received into grace for Christ's sake.

We are saved by this grace, through faith, as is taught by St. Paul in Ephesians 2:8,9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.

We believe the promise of the Gospel, given by God at the fall of man into sin (Genesis 3:15), that He would send a Savior.  This Savior is none other than Jesus the Christ.  He says of Himself I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).

It is to preach the Gospel of the forgiveness of sins and to teach the faith.  So this is the work you will find at St. Peter Lutheran Church.  From Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in Heaven and earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age. "

St. Peter uses The Lutheran Hymnal for Church services.  We follow a set liturgy and make use of solid, faithful, and confessional hymns.  The Service of the Sacrament of the Altar takes place every Sunday.
